Tokyo Skytree Turns One

One year ago today, the Tokyo Skytree (東京スカイツリ) officially opened to the public. Standing 634 meters (2,080 feet), the Skytree is the tallest tower and the second largest structure in the world. The Skytree took four years to build and in the last year alone, over 6.3 million people visited the tower, with many capturing the experience on Instagram.

Hey Stewie, I found some anacin if you still need it!

“Anacin? Isn’t that kind of a 70’s medication?”

“Nah, it’s still around.”

I’ve been having abandoned building frustration today.

It’s like sexual frustration in that it feels like smashing your face into a brick wall that won’t move but it’s not like I’m…tingly in the pants for abandoned buildings.

I just really want to go see all of them that I can and take pictures and bask in their derelict beauty.

I really love decay, alright?

Alexa Chung opened up to the audience about surviving a broken heart. (She’s still working on it).
“There are upsides to despair though,” she joked. “You can wear a blanket in public instead of a coat.”
The Brit it-girl shared the advice she received from her mother, friends–and Marianne Faithfull on getting over heartache. Of her Faithfull encounter, Chung explained: “It’s fashion week, and I’m wasted, because that’s what happens at fashion week: you get drunk and you watch alright collections and you’re like [clap, clap] that was amazing. Glug glug. So I’m drunk, and I go up to her and I say, ‘Marianne, how did you get over Mick Jagger?’”
Her response? “Darling, you can’t believe thelyrics.” Chung’s mother’s advice–that the best way to get over a man is to “get under another”–was a little more helpful.

Here’s some gifs that I threw together as practice from a really funny Old Spice commercial.

Yes, they’re bad…I know.
